DAY 320

We went to watch a school thing this evening and there's a Grade 2 art exhibition in the lobby of the theatre. Guess who this one is by... They made these prints using photos traced onto a piece of polystyrene (somehow, not quite sure how) and then printed onto different coloured backgrounds. I love it!

DAY 319

Another photo by Ed and particularly good because we'd just watched and loved the film Searching for Sugar Man and then he went to old Delhi and found this ... sugar man.

DAY 318

Another day, another airport. Back from Chennai to Delhi today. Loving all the lines in this one ... bit like Day 309.

DAY 317

Check out these crazy South Indian snacks. Probably better than crisps, although I've only tried the banana chips ...

DAY 316

... and while we're on the subject of modern Indian design, check out this brilliant card that I found in the hotel gift shop.

DAY 315

I flew to Chennai with Indigo Air on Sunday. They get top marks for design and general Indian quirkiness. Their stewardesses used to wear wigs as part of their uniform.

DAY 314

This is #1 in a guest series that Ed is going to do for the blog called 'Cool people doing cool stuff' (his words). Old Delhi is perfect for this theme. This man is making a part of a tombstone for a Muslim cemetery.

DAY 313

Ed's been down to Old Delhi taking photos, so I'll post a few of them to fill in a couple of gaps (and because they're nice photos). Lots going on in this one. Why are those guys standing on the roof? We need to spend more time in Old Delhi before it gets too hot to bear ...

DAY 312

Another in Ed's series of roadside shrines. This is Lakshmi - goddess of wealth and fortune in the big picture, with Durga the invincible riding her tiger on the right.

DAY 311

Driving home today and we discovered another car like ours. First one we've seen the same. Hello twin! You can play spot the difference that isn't the steering wheel, the number plate or the stickers on the windscreen...

DAY 309

And now for something completely different. I do love the view down the hallway in our flat, with all its lines.

Sunday, January 19, 2014

DAY 308

We've driven past a sign to this temple for months and finally went to have a look today. We didn't go in, but we loved the statues outside. Such a beautiful day today - at last!

DAY 307

Just about warm enough to sit outside in the morning. Check out Louie's new tiger pyjamas that he got for his birthday. Thanks Alison! Guest photographer: Oslo.

DAY 306

Thukpa noodles - I think it's a Tibetan dish originally, or from the northern states of India. Always on the menu with momos. Mmmm.

DAY 305

... and when it is sunny, all of Delhi does their laundry. There are clothes everywhere, outside houses but also in the middle of roundabouts, in trees ... anywhere to get them dry. These photos are deceptive as I'm breaking rules and publishing ones that were taken this weekend rather than in the week, but I'm making the most of the sun - it's been so gloomy recently.

DAY 304

Sunny days are few and far between in Delhi at the moment... our salad is finding life difficult.

Tuesday, January 14, 2014

DAY 303

Ed took this photo in Pharanganj today. They're making a type of sweet for Lohri celebrations. Lohri is a Punjabi festival which I don't know very much about, except that people make fires and throw popcorn into them.

DAY 302

Back in Delhi! This lion outside a temple near our house is slightly different to the ones in Trafalgar Square... not sure which I prefer.

Sunday, January 12, 2014

DAY 301

One last photo of London before I flew back to Delhi: The Tower of London and the Shard in the background, just round the corner from my cousins' house where I was staying.

Saturday, January 11, 2014

DAY 300!!!

Day 300 but I'm not in Delhi ... back home tomorrow. Meanwhile I had a fantastic day wandering around in the sunshine and having lunch with lovely Isobel. We had lunch at Rosa's (Thai) Cafe just off Regent Street. Highly recommended, not least because of the flooring.

DAY 299

This goes some way to explaining why London is my favourite city in the world.

Thursday, January 9, 2014

DAY 298

And now a flying visit to London for a meeting. Check out the colour of the sky!

Wednesday, January 8, 2014

DAY 297

Time to say goodbye and the end of our holiday :-( We had such a lovely time. Thanks for making it so fabulous Sophy, Andrew and Josie! (and thanks for this photo, Soph!)

Tuesday, January 7, 2014

DAY 296

Another freezing, foggy morning at Ranthambore and sadly ... no tigers. We did see a tiger footprint in the mud though which was quite exciting. And crocodiles. And a wild boar. And two different types of deer. And a turtle. And some fabulous birds. But no tigers.

Monday, January 6, 2014

DAY 295

Ranthambore Tiger Reserve today. We've been in twice now but so far no tigers :-( It's beautiful inside the park but it's a bit of a circus - lots of jeeps and larger vehicles chasing a sighting. So we're all feeling a little bit like this bird. One more chance tomorrow morning before we head back to Delhi.

Sunday, January 5, 2014

DAY 294

Back on the road again today with another early start. Our train was delayed (by three hours) so we did a little misty morning detour to Humayun's Tomb near the railway station. Ed took this brilliant photo. We made it to Ranthambore in Rajasthan in the end ... into the national park tomorrow.

Saturday, January 4, 2014

DAY 293

Back in Delhi and it's Louie's birthday today! We celebrated by going to the climbing wall. That's Sophy on the left, Oz in the middle and Louie on the right. Our holiday isn't over yet ...

Friday, January 3, 2014

DAY 292

We had a travelling day today - arriving in Hyderabad on the overnight train from Hospet (Hampi) and then a flight back to Delhi...

Thursday, January 2, 2014

DAY 291

Another guest photographer today ... Andrew. So many beautiful views in Hampi. You could stay here for weeks and still not find everything there is to explore. Unfortunately we're off on the train this evening back to Delhi, via Hyderabad.

DAY 290

Happy New Year from Hampi! These chalk patterns were outside every shop and house in the village. So beautiful.
